The club is excited to announce that Ben Channing will continue in the U12s coaching position for the coming season. As a player Ben has represented Gippsland in a state under 18 final played at the MCG, played Melbourne premier cricket with Casey South Melbourne and played over 100 senior games for Stratford which has included 2 B grade hundreds and an A grade premiership where Ben played a pivotal role making 253 runs at an average of 31 for the season.
As a coach Ben has been involved as much as possible with our juniors over the last few seasons but due to work commitments has been unable to take on a full time position. However when the under 12s role became available mid way through last season he took it on and hasn’t looked back. Ben also coached the Country side in the annual Sale Maffra Cricket Associations under 12s Town vs Country match.
It’s great to see another player from our senior grades taking on a junior coaching job. Ben is a vibrant and enthusiastic person who has a great cricket knowledge and will no doubt do another great job as coach. We wish Ben and the under 12s all the best!
